Did you know that there are more than 600 people in Northern Ireland relying on haemodialysis due to chronic kidney disease.
Dialysis is a life-sustaining treatment that becomes a major part of everyday life — and that’s why research that puts patients’ voices at the centre is so important.

Mari McPeake Lecturer of Nursing and Paramedic Science (Magee Campus) is leading an exciting new project on shared care for people on haemodialysis, and she’s now inviting patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to take part. Your experiences can help shape better, more empowering care for the future.

The Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund (NIKRF) is the leading charity funding kidney research in Northern Ireland.

  • Raise funds for life saving research into the causes, prevention and possible cures for kidney disease.

  • Provide specialised equipment for research and advances in treatment of kidney diseases not yet available from the National Health Service.
  • Be the voice for public awareness of kidney disease and its consequences.
  • Promote Organ Donation.
